For all the saints (Sine nomine) – G major

Vaughan Williams’ wonderful hymn for All Saints day. I arranged these brass parts for an Advent Sunday service in 1994. There is a short introduction to each verse. These are best played along with an organ accompaniment.

Come and see (Kendrick) – C major

Graham Kendrick’s thoughtful meditation on the cross brought out one complex obbligato for clarinet (or horn) and one simple and gentle canonic part for the trumpet. The bassoon part is a gentle reply as the mystery is contemplated.

Come and see – Clarinet

Come and see – Horn

Come and see – Bassoon

Come and join the celebration – C major

A bouncy children’s chorus, parts written for the two of my children who had got far enough in their instrumental studies to join in on their instruments:

Bring to the Lord a glad new song (Jerusalem) – D major

The grand tune, Jerusalem, with its wonderful harmonies works well for a praise hymn as in this setting by Michael Perry of words from Psalms 149 and 150.

Here are parts for 2 instruments:

Bring to the Lord a glad new song (Jerusalem) – Horn

Bring to the Lord a glad new song (Jerusalem) – Bassoon
